Hadi Aboukhater’s Family Updates
A new article on the website of popular DC, Virginia, and Maryland radio station, WTOP, discusses a new startup that delivers $6 lunches in 20 minutes to Washington DC residents. This startup is called MunchQuick. The company is based out of Alexandria, Virginia and offers two meals a day on their website. These meals are made fresh and range from $3 to $6. Orders can be placed on their website from 11am to 2pm as the CEO and COO of the company deliver the meals to specific area codes in Washington, DC.
The company’s main pull for customers is that people are able to eat healthy, fresh, and cheap meals without having to leave their office. It is difficult to find healthy meals under $15 dollars in DC, so this new startup is delving into the cheap and healthy market to better service their community. The company is brand new as they launched on June 30th.
They have been able to keep a steady stream of customers as they prepare about 100 lunches each morning at a kitchen in Alexandria, Virginia. The menus are set weekly and preparation of the meals starts at 7am every morning. At 10 am, the two entrepreneurs split the meals, keep them in incubators to keep them warm, and drive out to their assigned section.
MunchQuick has been able to retain an 89% return rate. Their current focus is on customer service, and they are trying to keep their current customers happy and spreading the word about their service. They have been delivering to law offices, government buildings, and parking lot attendants among other customers. The key to keeping their prices so low are purchasing in bulk and cooking in bulk. Eventually MunchQuick wants to expand their delivery service to more popular areas in DC and closer to college campuses. They are developing an app that will make ordering easier, as the two startup entrepreneurs develop their startup to a full fledge business.
